High fantasy

High Fantasy is a subgenre of fantasy that the story evolves in parallel worlds resembling the middle ages, but inhabited by different types of monsters (e.g. dragons, trolls, goblins...) and other races (e.g. elves, dwarves...) who live among humans. High Fantasy and Sword & Sorcery are now two genres most commonly associated with Fantasy. High Fantasy is best known through the work of authors such as JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis, whose Fantasy works were published in the 1950s. The major difference between Heroic Fantasy and High Fantasy is that the hero is not alone but surrounded by a guild or a band to help him in his quest.
