Definition of Jötunn


Jötunn, in scandinavian mythology, is the name of a race of giants who fight against the gods since the dawn of time until the end of time (Ragnarök). However, many gods have mated with members of that race. Loki for example, is a god, but is also considered a Jötunn. Like them, he is the master of metamorphosis and illusions. One of his wifes is the Jötunn Angerboda with whom he has Jormungand a terrible serpent. Loki, during the Ragnarok will become the leader of the Jötunn and will fight with them against the gods.
