A Kitsune (狐) is in Japanese folklore, a fox that has the ability to shapeshift into a woman. This kind of Yokai is intelligent and possesses magical powers that increase with age and wisdom. While some tales speak of kitsune employing this ability to trick others, in other stories, they are described as faithful guardians, friends, lovers, or spouses.
