Definition of Moloch


Moloch is in Christian demonology a demon who takes joy from the tears of the mothers of whom he has stolen their children. He is one of the seven princes of Hell and his power would, in the demonology of the sixteenth century, at its peak in December.
In the Kabbalistic tradition, Moloch and Satan are the first of two bad Sephirot. Moloch is the negative of the first sephirot named Kether (crown of knowledge).
